Small Circular patchy bald spots : Some people experience circular, coin sized, smooth bald spots. Sometimes their skin might be very itchy before the hair loss could occur. It mostly affects the scalp but it can also be seen in eyebrows and beard.

Sudden Loosening/Thinning of hair: Sudden physical or emotional shock causes overall hair thinning. Brisk tugging of hair leads to hair fall. Large chunks of hair is lost while combing hair. This kind of hair loss causes overall hair thinning and not bald patches.

Full body hair loss: Some medical treatments like chemotherapy for cancer causes full body hair loss. This is a temporary phenomenon. Once the treatment is over hair growth resumes back to normal.

Patchy scaling of the scalp: This is a sign of ringworm infection. It is usually seen with redness, boils and swelling of scalp. It is accompanied by itching of the scalp.
