1. Coconut oil seems healthy when used in small amounts; to coat hair or reduce frizz, hair may not behave when large amounts is applied. This is only necessary for those with coarse or dry hair who struggle with low protein.Bet you can relate to this when you come across our folks from the Eastern Coast.****

2. Coconut oil may lead to more brittle hair and hair loss. Since you see so many celebrities raving on how fantastic coconut oil is for the hair, you finally end up doing the same. However, repeated use of coconut oil may cause protein build up, making your hair further stiff, hard and less elastic. And less elasticity means more breakage when combing or styling. Also, your hair will be tangled and look dull.**

3. Coconut oil may clog pores and cause irritation for some scalp types (just as it does on certain skin types). You see one man’s medicine is another man’s poison. It’s a little funny I had to make this reference here but apparently that’s how it works. ****

4.** Coconut oil might be soothing on the skin, but soothing can turn greasy if the oil is not fully rubbed into your scalp. But have you ever seen Deepika Padukone with greasy hair? Maybe the coconut oil works for her or probably she’s got her mum to do the massaging.**

**5. It should go without saying, but anyone with an allergy or reaction to coconuts or coconut oil should not use these products on hair either, no matter what your hair type is. Allergies could be fatal, don’t risk it.
